AL-QAEDA is using an extremist quiz with an AK47 assault rifle as the top prize to attract new members in Yemen.
Militants have been touring the south-western city of Taiz in the build-up to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan putting up posters advertising the contest, residents reported.
The posters encourage locals to pick up quiz sheets from members of the terror group for the chance to win a range of prizes.
The first prize is a Chinese-made AK-47, while the runner up will win a motorcycle and the person in third place will get a laptop.
Other prizes include a pistol and cash prizes of 20,000 rials (£62).

Most of the questions in the quiz focus on al-Qaeda’s radical interpretation of Islam.
One question reads: “Name three articles of the (Yemeni) constitution which contradict Islamic Law.”
Another says: “Any person who follows a law other than Islamic law is an infidel who must be killed. List three (scriptural) references for this.”
The sheets did not give details on where to submit entries.
But residents told Reuters the group’s offices and mosques in the city were widely known.
Al-Qaeda’s Yemeni branch – one of the most active in the militant network – has taken advantage of the chaos in the region to strengthen its position in the country, especially in remote southern regions.
